My First Video - Continuity Sequence

My favourite aspect of the video was the start of the video, the match on action to opening the door. This was my favourite aspect because I feel this was the smoothest part of the video and the soundtrack at the start matched very well with the action. My other favourite part was the ending with the close up of Zac’s face and he was smirking as if he had done a ‘dodgey’ deal.

My least favourite aspect of the video was when we get a close up of Matthew’s face. This is because in the shot before Matthew was moving and then it cuts to the close up where he isn’t moving. We didn’t realise this when filming so it was too late to reshoot. Also when we had the over the shoulder shot of Zac and we had to cut it short as he was speaking but we didn’t want him to be speaking, causing this part of the video to be slightly jumpy and ruin the continuity of the video.

When filming and editing, the thing that I feel went well was the match on action part at the beginning. It was smooth continuity.  All together the filming went very well however during editing many things went wrong. While editing we cut at the perfect time on the first few shots and the music faded in at the end.

During filming I don’t feel like we followed the sheet very well as we ended up with shots that weren’t filmed right and one shot missing.  Also when filming we rushed it quite a bit so that may have been the reason for missing shots and wrong filming. This caused us to have many problems when editing. When we had to use the close up of Zac’s face we realised we had dialogue in the wrong place so we had to cut the scene to a couple of seconds long, which made that part of the sequence jumpy.

We all worked together well as a team , although if we were to undertake this task again then I think we could improve on a few things. For example timing, so we wouldn’t rush each shot. Also I think we should read the sheet more carefully so that we do each shot right and to check after we have finished filming that we have each shot we need to there is no problem in editing.

Continuity is one continuous scene. I feel that the first four shots of our video ran very smooth however after that it became slightly jumpy. To improve this we could have checked while filming that we had the right shots to make it one continuous scene.

  1. Excellent work Shauna - very well discussed, using some of the technical terms we have learnt and making good use of the blog to present your infomrnation. A great beginning. Well done!
